Rainbow River is an excellent diving and snorkel activity since divers and non-divers can participate together.
The Rainbow River in Dunnellon, Florida, is known for its pristine water and natural conditions. The facilities include a boat ramp, changing room, and pavilion picnic tables. A local water taxi (boat) will bring upstream to enter the Rainbow River to have a ~ 3/4 mile drift dive (mild to medium current) downstream.
There are numerous small caverns, boils, and popcorn springs along the way. The average depth is 10 to 23 feet. There are several kinds of freshwater fish, such as bass, brim, and gar. The water condition provides a 100 ft. visibility, 72-degree temperature year-round, and plenty of wildlife.
I caution against late Spring and Summer weekend afternoons because the park is quite crowded. Also, please check the entry fees. As of 2023, the cost of ea diver is $20, and the boat ride is $10 for ea diver.
